I was getting ready for work today and having a hot flash.
Hey, hot flashes? You can go straight to hell.
Anyway, try putting on a bra when your body is slick with sweat (sorry to my male readers as that's TMI). And, putting on makeup with a sweaty face is impossible!
As I opened the back door to leave for work, the cold air felt heavenly on my overheated body.
But I started to wondering about something. . .
My temp was 500,000° (I didn't need a thermometer, I could just tell) which is slightly over the normal temp of 98.6°. I felt like I would self-combust at any moment.
I walked outside and the temperature was 0°.
Could I catch a cold (sweaty, wet body into freezing air)? Could my heart stop from the sudden temperature change?
One question was answered. I'm still here so I didn't have a heart attack.
Right now I just want to say, "Fuck you menopause."

Exercise!
I wrote earlier that Angry and I were going to try to get healthy. We are hoping to get in shape and, as a result, lose some weight. Read about it here if you haven't already.
We've been sort of eating healthy but struggle sometimes. He's lost a decent amount of weight. I, on the other hand, lost some then gained some back. We are going to keep working on it!!
The new addition to the mix is, say it with me, EXERCISE!! The dreaded exercise.
We joined a gym and went for the first time last night. I took a Zumba class and he worked out on an elliptical machine and lifted weights.
I actually enjoyed the class. I had to "slow down" quite a bit as my heart rate went up too high but that's OK. Fat and lazy do not equal jumping into this full force!! I felt good (and really tired) when we got home. I really felt like I had accomplished something. Angry agreed.
I hate to admit it but I’m looking forward to going again tonight and continuing on with a new routine in our life.
Fat and lazy? Changing as we speak.

If I write it, it must be so.
Angry and I are chubby overweight fat. It’s a fact and we freely admit it.
We both have health problems. I’m a Type 1 diabetic (for 36 years) with slightly high blood pressure and he needs a knee replacement. The extra weight doesn’t help either one of us.
We have, over the years, lost and gained some weight. We’ve also tried to diet many times (too many to count).
Problem number one is that we like to eat out. Who doesn’t like not having to cook or clean up? ME!!
Problem number two is that we have no sense of suck at portion control. If I make pork chops and potatoes, we both have two chops and a plate full of potatoes. Not good.
We’ve both come to the conclusion that we are getting older and need to do something to lose some weight and get into better shape. We both would like to spend a lot more time together and our health may prevent that if we keep living and eating the way we have.
I’m writing this down so I feel like I’ve written some sort of contract. If I put it into writing, it must be so.
We have begun our quest to be healthy. Nothing crazy, just healthy.
We are going to:
- Eat at home more.
- Cook using healthier ingredients.
- Use portion control to the max.
- Add more fruits and veggies to the mix.
- Get some exercise.
Problem number three (and our biggest) is exercise. I know some people enjoy it but we both find it boring and “unfun.” Angry also has issues because his knee is so bad. He’s limited to using an elliptical type machine and no high impact exercise. We are going to look into a local gym that offers classes I’d be interested in. I’m hoping that will motivate me to go. Angry can use the machines while I take a class.
We have a trip to Mexico planned for May and I’d like to drop a few pounds by then (and be “forced” to buy a new swimsuit or two!). We may also have the opportunity to go to Hawaii next April. That’s over a year to try to get into shape (and look decent on the beach)!
Wish us luck. I think we’re gonna need it.
